Speaking Engagements
“Harry Truman is credited with saying, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” Dave McGillivray should be credited for living it. With a heart the size of Boston, I can’t think of anyone who does more things for more people, without expecting anything in return, than Dave McGillivray. His work ethic, his energy, his athletic feats, and his generosity are legendary; and he’s earned my vote for the greatest organizational and management genius of our lifetime.”

Dave - WOW!!!
I must tell you that I was worried about having such a small crowd today. My lesson learned is that it’s about quality, not quantity. Not only did people still make great connections, but SEVERAL stopped at the registration table on the way out and said, “That’s the best speaker we’ve heard yet!”
You are a great asset for BCA, thank you for treating our members and guests as special. Your message was right on target, being filled with just the right traits of a leadership message, and presented with a great personality! I was pleased to see you fill the time appropriately, yet respect the allotted time frame.

“DEFINING MOMENTS”
Everyone has a story to tell, for Dave McGillivray, it was his strong desire to be an athlete that led him to run across the country at age 23….the year was 1978. The finish of that run led to the start of countless other journeys and challenges (link to athletic achievements). McGillivray is unique in that he is both an accomplished athlete and an accomplished race director. He knows what it takes to complete an endurance event and also the painstaking detail and management and motivational skills that go into a successfully run event, from a 40,000 person race to a 500 person race.
That 80-day trek across the United States led to a life of pushing himself both mentally and physically. McGillivray is now Race Director of the BAA Boston Marathon, the 2008 US Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials, the TD Banknorth Beach to Beacon 10K, the Denver Marathon and numerous other races (link to DMSE event calendar). He addresses audiences with a motivational account which is not about running…it’s about what’s possible if you believe in yourself and your own ability to do the seemingly insurmountable.
Dave McGillivray has inspired thousands of people, of all ages and backgrounds, to be their best and pursue their dreams.
Over the past 30 years Dave has spoken at annual sales meetings; colleges and universities; libraries; non-profit groups and more. The list includes all sizes of companies and groups from Fortune 500 companies to healthcare organizations to acting as key note speaker for athletic events and professional organizations.
