ROAD RACE MANAGEMENT
What started in Boston is not staying in Boston.
Already well known for producing great races in iconic places, DMSE Sports is setting up to hit a home run – or maybe score a touchdown – with its latest expansion effort in the endurance space.
What started as a quirky idea by the company’s namesake and founder, Dave McGillivray, is now an effort to create a nationwide series of marathons inside the country’s Major League Baseball ballparks and potentially National Football League stadiums as well.
Football fans across the country now have yet another reason to be jealous of the New England Patriots.
Gillette Stadium, home of the five-time Super Bowl champions, will host its first marathon on September 28. The race is being billed as the only Boston Marathon qualifier ever run entirely in an NFL stadium.
A new marathon will be step off Sept. 28 and circle the home field of the New England Patriots more than 100 times. The event — on a course that is USA Track & Field certified and the only Boston Marathon qualifier run entirely in an NFL stadium — will raise money for homeless shelters across the region.
THE PATRIOT LEDGER
On Friday, Sept. 28, 100 runners will run 26.2 miles around the home turf of the New England Patriots to raise money for homeless shelters throughout the region. Participants will run more than 100 laps on the warning track surrounding the turf. The course is USA Track & Field (USATF) certified and the only Boston Marathon qualifier run entirely in an NFL stadium.
WICKED LOCAL BELMONT
Becca Pizzi made history in 2016 as the first female American to compete and win the World Marathon Challenge, seven marathons on seven continents in seven days. She instantly became a celebrity in her Belmont hometown, an inspiration to many young girls like her own 10-year-old daughter, Taylor, that you can do anything you put your mind to.
