Dave McGillivray, the race director for the Boston Marathon, will be the guest speaker Saturday at the Twin City Track Club's Winter Seminar in Winston-Salem.
Dave McGillivray finished his first marathon at 18. He ran across the country at 23, then completed his first Ironman at 26. He has finished 46 Boston Marathons in a row, all while directing the race since 1988. Last January, he knocked off seven marathons on seven continents over the course of seven days in the World Marathon Challenge. At 64, there’s little in the endurance running world that he hasn’t achieved.
Dave McGillivray, the Race Director of the Boston Marathon, is internationally known for his ability to organize and facilitate one of the most famous marathon's in the world. Dave is also a legendary runner from Medford, having run the Boston Marathon 46 times. He has run across country twice and completed the World Marathon Challenge, seven marathons in seven days on seven continents, last February.

Yesterday afternoon Dave McGillivray went for his first, tentative run in his suburban Boston neighbourhood after having triple bypass surgery seven weeks ago.
An accomplished marathoner, ultramarathoner and triathlete, McGillivray, 64, was diagnosed with severe heart disease five years ago, and was finally forced to undergo open heart surgery in mid-October.
