On Sunday, November 13, Houston played host to the final 2022 stop of the lululemon 10K Tour, a race series presented by lululemon and DMSE Sports. Having played out in Atlanta and Houston in 2022, the series is set to return to new cities in 2023.

The organizing team noted that… ‘Thousands of participants took to the course, beginning their journey at Minute Maid Park, crossing the Buffalo Bayou, and returning to historic Downtown Houston for a post-race party.

‘Astronaut Sunita Williams was the official starter for the Houston 10K. The event brought together local partners from across the city, creating a celebratory and community-focused experience.’

“All of us at DMSE and lululemon wanted to give our runners an out-of-this-world experience here in the Space City,” said Matthew West, Race Director and CEO of DMSE Sports.

“We strove to make our local partners the stars of our event, ensuring an authentic sense of place as our participants explore the city. As we look ahead to 2023, the opportunity to impact businesses, non-profits, and community organizations in every city we visit remains paramount.”

Runners were met with support from locally-spearheaded cheer stations along the course, brought to life by LGBTQ+ walking and running club Front Runners Houston, for the people HTX indoor cycling studio, non-profit partner Team Catapult, Soaring Phoenix lion and dragon dancing team, and lululemon stores from throughout the Houston area.

Ben Preisner took first place in the men’s division with a time of 30:35. In the women’s field, Larissa Kolasinski topped the podium with a time of 38:51. In the non-binary division, Paul Phillips finished first with a time of 45:59.

Houston-based 501(C)(3) non-profit, Team Catapult, was selected as the charitable partner for the race. The organization connects physically challenged individuals with the opportunities, training, education, accessibility, and funding needed to participate and compete at all athletic levels. Race participants were invited to make donations both during registration and on race day, with opportunities to contribute continuing into December.
