IOWA’S NEWS NOW

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (CBS2/FOX28) — Deb Carneol is no stranger to long runs - and now she gets to be part of a special group during the 2019 Boston Marathon.

Carneol - a North Liberty dentist who ran the World Marathon Challenge in 2018 - is running with the Boston Marathon "Night Team" during Monday's race. The group is led by Dave McGillivray, a WMC teammate of Carneol's who is also the race director for the marathon.

According to Carneol, this is McGillivray's 47th consecutive year running the Boston Marathon - and he'll also be doing it just six months after triple-bypass surgery. The "Night Team" will wear commemorative shirts in support of the Joseph Middlemiss Big Heart Foundation.

The team will not be wearing tracking bibs and are set to leave the starting line around 3:00 p.m. Iowa time.
