MARTIN RICHARD FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES 5TH ANNUAL MR8K

Sunday, December 4 at Boston Landing - Join Boston’s Team as we champion investment in kids & community

Registration Now Open at MR8K.org

DORCHESTER, MASS. — The Martin Richard Foundation, in partnership with the Boston Bruins Foundation, New Balance, Boston Landing, and DMSE Sports—a true collaboration of Boston’s leading teams—today announced it will host the fifth annual MR8K. The 5-mile race will return to the home of its presenting sponsor New Balance at Boston Landing on Sunday, December 4. Registration is now open at http://mr8k.org/.

In 2019 the Martin Richard Foundation established the MR8K as its signature annual fundraising event, giving more people an opportunity to run for Team MR8. For the fifth-year milestone, the event promises a unique running and social experience in Boston’s newest athlete village near the New Balance Headquarters at Boston Landing. This run allows participants to come together on a special course, with added kid-specific age qualifying races ensuring every member of the family can be a part of and compete for Boston’s Team and the city’s youth and community causes. The MR8K will also offer a virtual option for runners to join across the globe who want to be a part of Boston’s Team. All funds raised will benefit the Martin Richard Foundation’s work to support community organizations that advance its values of inclusion, kindness, justice, and peace.

“When we started the MR8K we wanted a race that was accessible to more people and had an experience that celebrated the pride we feel for our city of Boston,” said Bill Richard co-founder of the Martin Richard Foundation. “The number of people who continue to come out year after year is a testament to the spirit of our city and the true nature of those in the running community to give back. We look forward to seeing each runner as they cross the finish every year—it is awesome.”

Produced by DMSE Sports, the 5-mile course will take place at Warrior Ice Arena at Boston Landing. Last year’s event raised over $100,000 for local youth and community causes with over 1,100 registered runners. The top two finishers were women in the New Balance pro-athlete program. Registration is $45. The event is open to runners, walkers, and para-athletes of all abilities, as well as families with small children.
